About MMGG
The inception of MGP began when Karen Sager, President, entered into an exclusive license agreement with Alex Higgenbotham for his patented technology in the filed of gutter guard microfiltration. Karen recognized the value the patented technology would bring to an industry that suffered from products that failed to deliver what they were designed to.
MMGG was launched in 2009 from Karen’s home in New Jersey as a single product, MasterShield.
Today, MMGG is proud to offer the best gutter protection in the market with three gutter guard products, MasterShield, Klean Gutter & GutterLove, meeting all price points. With a growing dealer network, a seasoned sales & marketing team and an exclusive superior technology, MMGG, led by the only female executive in the industry, is uniquely positioned to grow and dominate the industry.
In addition to having the rights to all current and future Higginbotham patents, Karen has patents issued and pending for product improvements she has introduced into the MMGG product line.
- 2022
- Due to its successful launch of copper in a filter with MasterShield and the added performance it gives to the filter, MMGG introduces copper into its Klean product. It names the cloth CopperCare™ to note it’s different performance from standard stainless steel filters used by everyone else which cannot control oils and organisms.

2018
MMGG introduces copper into its MasterShield product. Copper breaks down oils, which leach from asphalt roofs, as well as organisms (moss, algae and lichen). This technology is now patented with several other patent pending.

MMGG identifies the need for a contractor-direct product and launches GutterLove.

2016
MMGG introduces high flow filters into its Klean Gutter product.
MMGG successfully asserts several of its patents against competitors and either caused the company to stop selling its product or now receives license fees for use of its technology.

MMGG introduces corner pans to its product line which handle high volume water areas like roof valleys.

MMGG establishes its National Headquarters and consolidates its manufacturing facilities to Paterson, NJ.

MMGG recognizes the need for additional products to expand its dealer network and launches Klean Gutter Leaf Guards.

2011
MMGG receives licenses to Higginbotham patents in MicroVortex technology and incorporates it into its MasterShield product. This key feature, which pulls water through the MasterShield gutter guard system at an angle, allows products to be pitched with the roof, improving the ability of MMGG’s gutter guards to shed debris.

MasterShield product is redesigned to improve interlocking panel feature.

Karen Sager, President, launches MMGG from her home in NJ with the production of a single product, MasterShield. MMGG becomes the exclusive licensee for the Higginbotham patents and is the only company licensed to manufacture gutter guards with this exclusive technology.

A stainless steel micromesh cloth is added to a gutter guard for the first time ever by Alex Higginbotham.

Alex Higginbotham is awarded his first and the industry’s first patent for a micromesh gutter guard and has his first commercial success with LeafFilter® Gutter Protection, which was named to Building Product Magazine’s Annual Top 100 List for 2003 and 2004.

1999
Alex Higginbotham makes a fine screen work by preventing it from clogging with tiny debris or overshooting with water. When a fine microfilter is touched on the underside by a series of downward extensions, it does not just keep organic debris out of a gutter, but it also allows water to quickly flow through what looked like a sheer but solid surface.

Frustrated by traditional gutter guards that just didn’t work, inventor, Alex Higginbotham, begins experimenting with filtration systems.

Klean Gutter is a microfiltration gutter guard that’ll outperform most dealer installed systems!
Klean Gutter is designed for the contractor who doesn’t want to commit to the constraints of a dealer program. You can get the technology benefits of gutter guards offered only by MGP through its exclusive license arrangement with Alex Higginbotham.
Rather than build it into a metal frame, we simplified the design and increased the water receiving area to the largest in the industry – 75% more than it’s direct competitors. This costs a little more to do, but it’s worth it for it’s easy of installation and performance.
And we didn’t stop there: Klean Gutter is heatable. Our patent pending heating methodology means one version of Klean Gutter can do it all. It just makes sense not to complicate things with extra parts and supplies. Several other features of Klean Gutter are also patent pending.
